Its origins and needs

In order to organize and to strengthen this area, the Ministry of Tourism of the previous government put out a call to create the Office of Conferences. We all answered that call. The results weren’t exactly what we hoped for but they allowed us to see clearly that it is we, the participants, who will be the driving force behind the transformations needed to place ourselves in the vanguard of the changes which are taking place worldwide. Our belief in the country and in the capacity of the top-class members of this sector remains undaunted.

During this period, tourist operators have made large strides in the development of infrastructure, conference rooms, and hotels and the activity of the Professional Conference Organizations has increased as has the suppliers’ investment in technology. In addition to being naturally gifted in terms of geography, climate, culture and security, our country and some of its major cities can boast the technical, professional and logistical capacity to aim at becoming an important regional center.

However, our marked lack of progress in the handling of information affects the quality of the events, the profitability of the operators and our ability to promote ourselves. Nowadays technology allows us to create a more powerful, more versatile tool to express and promote the sector.
